1. General League Information:
- This league is an *FHLSIM RERATE* league, there will be no questioning about it.
- There is to be one NHL rerates per team. It will be used in the offseason only. It can not be traded.
- Simulations will occur at approx. 12am (eastern standard time) Monday to Friday. There will be 1 sim day per actual day.
- ICQ is standard, if you do not have ICQ and do not wish to get it, you may not join the league. Communication is vital and makes the league more exciting. I would expect each GM to be on ICQ once every other day.
- The regular season will be approximately 27 weeks in duration. Plus one week off for All Star festivities at the end of the Post Season. The Post season will be approx. between 3 to 5 weeks in length depending on the length of all series.
- There will be no sims on all major holidays (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day, Easter Sunday, etc.) The commish will announce all days off.
- There will be a 2 week period in between the All Star week, and the start of the off-season.
- Coaches effect play, there will be farm rerates (we use FHLsim 1.5, therefore this will have very little effect).
- One GM per household. No exceptions. If you are friends with someone in the league, please refrain from using their computer for your own league use. This is to save confusion.
- One team per person. Again NO EXCEPTIONS. Anyone caught being more then one person in the league will be fired.
2. General Manager (GM) Conduct:
- All GMs must respect each other. No bad mouthing will be tolerated at any public forums, emails, ICQ messages, etc. If you do not like each other, keep it outside of the league.
- All GMs must post of the board regularly if need be. I do not expect daily articles, but it is recommended. I do posting on the messageboard as a way to judge activity (along with other things) so the more the merrier.
- All GMs must follow the rules constantly. Anyone not following the rules will be punish depending on the rule of which was not followed. Teams will not be punished, just the GMs.
- GMs must send in lines every week (unless on vacation). I will be erasing the .lns files every weekend, so be forewarned.
- If you will be away for any amount of time extending beyond 2 days, you shall post it in the *Vacation notices* section of the messageboard. Otherwise if I see that you are away and not doing your duties you will be removed.
- Each GM will start out with 5 million dollars (separate from your teams finances), for each fine you will lose money. If you ever run out of money, you will removed from the league.
3. Roster Limitations:
- No team may have more then 50 players combined on their farm and pro team. The sim does not allow this. Any trades or signings or waiver claims that place the team over 50 will become null and void.
- The Pro team may not have more then 25 players on their pro roster (injured players do not count towards this).
- When sending in lines, you must have a total of 20 players (18 players, 2 netminders). You must have a minimum of 3 players at each forward position (LW, C, RW). 6 Defensemen and 2 netminders dress for each match. Once again your combined total must be 20 dressed. If your team plays more then 20 players, you will be given a warning. Then you will be fined, 100k for your first offense, then each repeated offense your fine will be doubled. If you run out of money or you are a constant nuisance you will be removed.
3a. Salary Cap:
- There will be a team salary cap of 45 million dollars. If a transaction ever puts you over the salary cap, you will not be fined. However, once the trade deadline passes, and you are over the cap, your team will be fined to a luxury tax.
- For every dollar that you are over, you will be charged that same amount. Then that money will be dispersed amongst all other teams who are under the cap. ex. if you are 29 million dollars over the cap. You will be charged 29 million from your teams funds. That money will be divided into the remaining 29 teams. So each team will receive 1 million dollars in extra revenue.
4. Transactions:
- You may trade, players, prospects, draft picks, cash, coaches. However you may never trade more then 5 million dollars for any player. You may never pay more then 1 million dollars for any pick(s) or prospect(s). The maximum amount of money one can trade in any single transaction in 5 million dollars. You can not trade money that you do not have.
- You have a limit of 15 trades per season (does not include free agent signings, prospect signings, waiver claims). In the off-season there is no limit. One week prior to the trade deadline their is no limit. Any unused trades do not carry over to the next season. If you run out of trades you may not trade again until the off-season or the week prior to the trade deadline.
- All trades must be posted on the messageboard and confirmed by both teams involved. As well as approved by the trade committee. At least half of the trade committee must disapprove of the trade prior to the trade being reviewed by the commish. If the commish, agrees with either side of the committee the appropriate action will take place.
- You CAN NOT, trade players that are not listed on your team in the current updated files.
- You CAN NOT make trades that involve more then 2 teams combined. This is to just save confusion.
- You CAN NOT trade for or trade away draft picks from 2+ seasons ahead of time. Only for this season and next.
4a. GM-Less Teams:
- GM-Less teams will be run by the commish, until a GM is found.
- Although the commish is running the team, no trades will be made for the team.
- In the off season, the commish will re-sign all necessary free agents within the rules of Free Agency.
5. Drafts/Prospects:
- Each season we will hold one entry draft per offseason. It will consist of 4 rounds, from the current NHL entry draft. *Season one will be draftees from the 2005 entry draft*
- Players currently in the NHL but not in the NAHC are also available in the draft.
- Prospects can be signed only when they have played at least 10 regular season or playoff games in the NHL.
- Prospects' contracts will be select at 3 seasons.
- Prospects' contract amount will be based on their round drafted. *1st round 800k, 2nd 700k, 3rd 600k, 4th 500k, etc.*
5a. Contraction Draft:
- In the unfortunate event of a team folding for whatever reason, we will hold a contraction draft.
- Each team will select 2 players from each team that folds. The drafting order will be the reverse from the previous season overall standings.
- If there isn't enough players to draft a full 2 rounds then each remaining team who has not drafted a player due to running out of players available will receive 100k in compensation.
- A team does not have to select a player and can pass on his turn. If a team passes in the first round he can not select a player in the 2nd round.
- If there are remaining players after the two rounds, they will become unrestricted free agents.
5b. Expansion Draft:
- If the league votes to expand the league each team will be asked to produce a protection list.
- Players 23 years of age and younger are exempt.
- Each team will have two options for their expansion list. They may either protect 10 forwards, 6 defensemen and 1 goaltender - or - 8 forwards, 5 defensemen and 2 goaltenders.
- No team can lose more then 2 players per expansion team.
- If a team loses a goaltender during the expansion draft, any other goaltender(s) will become auto. protected.
6. Free Agency/Contracts:
- A player is consider a restricted free agent (RFA) when he is without a contract and is 30 years of age or younger.
- A player who is 31 or older and is without a contract, is consider a unrestricted free agent (UFA).
- A player can not sign a contract for more then 3 years.
- A RFA must be given a pay raise offer of at least 10% from his previous contract. Otherwise he will become an UFA and can be signed by any other team.
- A RFA can be given offers from any team. The team who holds his current rights, can either match the winning offer or request that they are given compensation for that player. The compensation is as follows.
| Player's OV. | Compensation |
| less then 65ov. | 4th round draft pick from the current year |
| 65ov. to 69ov. | 2nd round draft pick from the current year |
| 70ov. to 75ov. | 1st round draft pick from current year |
| 76ov. to 79ov. | three 1st round draft picks from following two seasons |
| 80ov. to 84ov. | four 1st round draft picks from following two seasons |
| 85ov.+ | four first round picks from following two seasons, and a 75ov.+ player |
- A player can only be re-signed in the off-season.
- There will be a period of a week where each team can try and re-sign their own players. You may only make 2 offers to your own UFA's in that weekly span.
- Following the pre-signing week. There will be a open market on all remaining unsigned players. This will take as much time as needed.
- Each team may only re-sign two UFA's during the pre-signing period.
- Teams in debt are not allowed to sign any UFA's. Not even their own.
7. Teams in Debt:
- When a team goes in debt the General Manager of that team will have to the end of the season to get in the green again.
- If a team is in debt at the end of the season, that team's GM will be removed from the league.
- If a team is continuously in debt for 2 consecutive seasons that aforementioned team will be in line for contraction in the off-season.
- If a team is ever nearing debt, he is warned to change the direction of the team.
8. Retirements:
- Players who are 40 or older during the current season will retire at seasons end. If they are still under contract they will still retire.
- Players who are 30 years old or older, and are under 60ov. will automatically retire at seasons end.
- Players who retire have a 50/50 chance of becoming a coach for hire the season following their retirement. They will be rated based on their position and their career. For example: Mark Messier would have high LD and SC ratings while his DF would be decent and his EX would be average. 80 65 65 90
9. Articles:
- Although not mandatory, it is highly recommended to write articles on whatever NAHC related topic you choose.
- If an article is deemed good enough, it will be posted on the main page. That GM will receive 100k for his team.
10. GM Money:
- Each GM when started out will receive 2 million dollars. This is not for your team's finances. This is for all of your infractions of the rules that you inflict upon the league.
- For every infraction against the rules, you will lose a certain amount of money. This is instead of taking money away from the franchise.
- If you are ever out of GM money you are fired immediately. No questions about it!
- For every full season you are in the league you will receive a bonus of 500k towards your GM money.
11. Awards:
- There are the standard awards that are given out every year. For each player or team trophy your team will be awarded with money. The actual amount of award money is shown on the awards page.
- For each award, awarded to a GM you will receive an extra 500k towards your GM Money.
- Each award given to a player will also give that player a bonus towards their rating, depending on the award. This is also listed in the awards page.
12. Coach Rerates:
-At the end of every season coaches will be re-rated based on their team's performance. If your team is top 5 in GF and/or lowest GA, your coach will be given an extra point towards his OF and DF respectively.
-Each coach will receive a bonus of 1 point towards EX and LD for every round of playoffs he coaches in. As well as one point bonus towards EX for every complete season coached.
-Coaches who are not with contracts during the season will be given a random bonus or deduction for each stat.
-Coaches who are on the squads who are in the 5 worst GF teams and/or the highest GA will lose one point in their OF and/or DF respectively.
13. Loopholes:
- For anything that is not covered in the rulebook that should be, shall be reported to the commish A.S.A.P.
- Anyone caught using a loophole towards their own advantage will be fired immediately.
